CASE STUDY: Ramps

RampsThe main contractor requested that the polystyrene blocks be used to form a void filler for three temporary access ramps to allow construction vehicle access from street to basement levels during the construction process and following in-depth design discussions our suggestion to manufacture a “tapered roof type kit” was accepted.

The ramps were constructed from various grades of material with a maximum block size 2400 x 1200 x 600mm using various thickness and tapered blocks, these being supplied to site together with a design drawing and layout procedure.

Following installation the top surface was covered with a 200mm thick concrete traffic surface.

RampsRampsThe ramps were used over the 24 month construction programme, and thereafter dismantled and the expanded polystyrene returned for recycling.
